Portfolios, Programs and Projects often fail for several reasons. Some of the reasons are:
- Incomplete identification of work required for program / project success
- Poor and/or, inconsistent communications between program / project team members and/or stakeholders
- Program / project deadlines are missed
- Program / project team does not understand implications of missed deadlines and cost overruns
- Inadequate resources allocated to work effort (e.g. funding, personnel, etc.)
- Bad news not shared early enough with leadership team / sponsor so they can help fix the issue(s)
