BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Ira M. Hendon, MBA, PMP®, CSM®, President and CEO of Hendon Group, Inc. (HGRP) has nearly four decades of experience providing assistance to large and mid-sized clients in a broad range of information technology and enterprise wide engagements.
HGRP has confidentiality agreements with all clients which prevents the disclosure of engagement specifics. However, a common theme in each client engagement is the planning and implementation of enterprise wide and/or division specific strategic initiatives.
Prior to founding HGRP, Ira was with the International Business Machines (IBM) Corporation for 30 years. Within IBM, Ira had several technical and business development roles including: first and second line manager, program manager and multiple consulting/principal roles. Ira’s last IBM assignment was Managing Principal, IBM Engineering and Technology Services organization (IBM Microelectronics Division) where he led the use of IBM product engineers to design and build custom solutions for Aerospace and Defense industry clients.
In addition, Ira took the initiative to recommend how IBM could generate significant cost savings. Ira’s suggestion team was awarded a $150K suggestion award for developing IP that simplified and drove consistent processes across a national services organization saving IBM an estimated $150 Million.
Ira is very active with the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI is focused on the professional development of portfolio, program and project managers world-wide. Ira has held several leadership roles including: Director of Programs, Director of Professional Development and Professional Development Day 2012 Conference Chair. Ira has also presented program and project management topics to small business owners through the Small Business Development and Procurement Technical Assistance Centers at the College of Lake County.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Ira is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and certified Scrum Master (CSM®) with the Project Management Institute and Scrum Alliance respectively. In addition, he has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Carleton College, Northfield, MN; Master’s in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management Executive Program (University of Minnesota), Minneapolis, MN. Ira has also attended a variety of technical and management training from IBM, including Executive Education from the Wharton School of Management (University of Pennsylvania), Philadelphia, PA. He has also attended project and program management training from a variety of education providers including the Stanford Center of Professional Development (Stanford University) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
HGRP is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Lindenhurst, IL and is certified by the Chicago Minority Suppliers Development Council (Chicago MSDC), Wisconsin and Iowa MSDC, Midwest MSDC, State of Illinois Business Enterprise Program (BEP), City of Chicago, Cook County (IL), State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce and the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. HGRP is also a member of the Lake County, GLMV and National Black Chamber of Commerce.

HOBBIES AND RELAXATION
Ira enjoys golf; home improvement projects; relaxing at the family cottage; and enjoys watching the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Blackhawks (especially when they win).
